a dream come true!

In April, I was honored to receive the 2023 Oklahoma Book Award in poetry through the Oklahoma Center for the Book from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries for my book, “Who Do You Think You Are?” In 2017, I attended this event as a MFA student only after a generous sponsor offered seats at her table. That was the moment I told myself and later friends and family that I wanted to win an Oklahoma Book Award. 

This full circle moment is a reminder what hard work and unwavering support can accomplish. Over the years, I have had so many family members, friends, coworkers, and even acquaintances who have seen talent in me when I couldn’t seem to find it in myself. To all of my supporters I am forever humbled and grateful for your love and kindness. It is my hope to continue doing what I love and sharing my work. I know with all of you behind me I will continue to reach new heights. Thank you to everyone!
